FACE UK is calling on all those who shoot to contact their MEPs over concerns that a number of proposals to amend the Firearms Directive would do nothing to tackle terrorism and illegal weapons, but would harm legitimate shooting in the UK.

Countryside Alliance Ireland is pleased that the European Parliament has listened to the concerns of the public and shooting community and today (2 February) voted not to review the Birds and Habitats Directives (the Nature Directives) under the Regulatory Fitness and Performance Programme (REFIT).

Representatives from Northern Ireland’s two main countryside organisations, Countryside Alliance Ireland (CAI) and the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), met with NI Environment Minister Mark H Durkan at Stormont. The meeting follows the Minister’s controversial decision not to introduce the draft Snares Order (Northern Ireland) to the NI Assembly in the latter part of 2015. The draft order had been produced by Department officials working in partnership with BASC and CAI back in May 2013.
